“Polish Day in Tokyo” Part 2
(the second of the series of Polish Days in Japan by PCCIJ)
On August 4th, 2009 (Tuesday) we held “Polish Day in Tokyo” Part 2. This was the 2nd event of the series of Polish Days organized with the aim of promoting the bilateral co-operation, especially in the business sector, between Poland and Japan, part of the PCCIJ Chopin Project.
The event started at 19:00 and featured greetings by Mr. Miroslaw Zasada, deputy ambassador of Poland followed by music performance by the Japanese pianist Ms. Yoshimi Nakayasu, who lives in Warsaw and represents “Murasaki”, the Japanese Center of Caligraphy in Poland, and our special guest, Mr. Hidetaka Nanasawa (Oboe) of New Japan Philharmonic.
After the piano recital guest were welcomed to enjoy Polish traditional cuisine such as barszcz czerwony, zurek, bigos etc., and special fusion food was introduced based on the Polish and Japanese recipies. Following the “Polan-don” (“Poland + “don”) introduced at the previous event, this time our guest were offered a new fusion cuisine called “Shoppan” (a combination of “Chopin” and Japanese “pan” which stands for bread).
Polish products such as jewerly, Polish sousages and ham (presented by Vestey Foods Japan Ltd.), sweets etc. were available for tasting and purchace at the venue.
